“Supporting an organization’s mission, impact and collective potential motivates my work to build connections and inspire success across the sector.”
Alexis has worked exclusively for non-profits over a fourteen-year career, motivated and inspired by each organization’s unique mission, impact, and the potential of our larger, collective efforts to serve the sector. Prior to joining The Alford Group, Alexis served as the Vice President of Institutional Advancement for the Music Institute of Chicago. Responsible for a broad range of fundraising, marketing, and strategic initiatives, Alexis supported the Board of Trustees and overarching institutional priorities while working to promote programs and mission-forward projects, rebuilt all development operations, and managed individual, corporate, and foundation portfolios, as well as the organization’s annual giving programs.
Before joining the Music institute, Alexis supported the Adler Planetarium as the Director of Development. During this time, she successfully stewarded the museum’s strategic planning and fundraising efforts for major and individual giving, membership, corporate and foundation giving, special events, endowment, and planned gifts. While at the Adler, Alexis directly supported the Board of Trustees and the Women’s Board, as well as an auxiliary committee focused on the Adler’s collection of scientific artifacts.
Prior to the Adler, she served as the Senior Officer, Major Gifts at The Chicago Council on Global Affairs where she was responsible for board relations, securing major funding for special initiatives, and sustaining annual individual donor support. She also worked for the Development Office at the Chicago Botanic Garden and the Tate Museums in London managing membership and ticket sales. Her early experiences working on customer facing membership teams developed her passion for connecting donors and volunteers to the incredible colleagues that work daily in support of an organization’s mission.
